My Name is Mike Marion. I practiced patent law for Philips for 34 yrs before retiring last year. I have been practicing law in the State of NY for the past 38 yrs. I am admitted to the USPTO as a Patent Attorney and I am a ham radio operator (since 1971) WB2AFC.

During my time with Philips, I worked on the first digital audio and video patents (MP3, MPEG-MPEG2 -MPEG4) as well as high definition TV and telecom patents. Before becoming a lawyer, I spent 17 yrs as a broadcast engineer with NYC radio stations WRFM, WTFM, WAPP and the Doubleday broadcasting chain.

Amateur radio operators have always been at the forefront of innovation and many invent solutions to technical problems but never act to monetize and protect those inventions. Although I retired from full time practice, I want to continue to take time away from my radio hobby to devote some time helping fellow ham radio enthusiasts explore the possibility of protecting and commercially exploiting inventions that they come up with.
